After leaving Trevor and the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct we drove towards Llangollen. We stopped at Horseshoe Falls and watch some people on kayaks sliding down the grassy hill towards the river. It then started to rain, so we ate our packed lunch in the car – a scene many who have holidayed in Wales will know too well.
We drove towards Lake Bala, before turning towards the historic town of Blaenau Ffestiniog and finally the coastal town of Porthmadog. The high street was bustling with tourists, but our goal was Morfa Bychan and the famous Black Rock Sands.
Black Rock Sands is a long wide beach where you can drive vehicles along. Monty ran towards the sea, dipping in toes in the sea. He played with his monster trucks in the waves and a model aeroplane in the wind. The dogs chased a ball.
We explored the sand dunes and then drove to the furthest end of the beach. Monty had an ice cream (I ate most of it) and then he steered the car up and down the empty beach. We used my drone to tire the dogs out, as they love to run, bark and chase it.
