Review

Wow, this is an incredibly goofy mismatch of everything. It is bizarre. There is some explosions, poor visuals, cheesy action, strange minor characters with one-liners, more explosions and music by Queen – I can’t believe it is simply a product of its era.

There are some redeeming aspects; a couple of interesting scene transitions and impressive mise-en-scène. Car camera work has a kinetic feeling. The lightning for the final-final sword fight felt it inspired the Shanghai battle in Bond’s Skyfall - great colours and silhouetted characters.

If there can only be one and they knew they’d be drawn to a final battle, why did they all – except the one dude – appear to be best buddies?

All the way through I was thinking it would be perfect for a remake… turns out John Wick director Chad Stahelski has a movie starring Henry Cavill in production!
