Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse

Review

This is another stab at the comedy/zombie combination and this low-budget version is probably worth skipping.

The introduction at the hospital sets the tone; an idiotic blend of humour and blood. The whole movie is very immature, including the production values. I expected some sort of “guide”, as the title implies, similar to Zombieland. Unfortunately it just seems like a bunch of set-pieces cobbled together to try and form a full story. There are plenty of gory moments and plenty of jokes. Most of these are OK but there are some stand-out moments – especially the whole trampoline scene.

The movie is not in the same ball-park as other comedy/zombie movies such as Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland, and goes to show how well these other movies are on all accounts compared to this attempt. This movie is similar in scale and production values to the disappointing Anna and the Apocalypse.
