With my bike back from the workshop with new bearings and a functioning dropper-post, I headed back out over Cannock Chase… except now my rear brake is spongy. Urgh.
I headed to the Chase through the bluebell woodland and fought the overgrown ferns through Coalpit Lane Covert. I rode up Muls Climb and tip-toed down singletrack from Haywood Warren; mixed trail conditions were really slippy.
At Penkridge Bank corner and due to the overgrown undergrowth, we decided to stick to the official red-graded trails. The packed shiny stones gave a different lack of grip… We followed the trails we'd ridden hundreds of times, crossing over to the Monkey side for three sections before making our way back. Thankful for no rain this time.
