The IMDB Meme

This was an idea taken from Neil’s World who often does these “meme” things. This meme is where you take the top 250 films on IMDB and highlight the films you’ve seen. This’ll be an interesting exercise for myself, to see how many films I’ve actually seen. Films I have watched are in bold bold and those that I own are also italicised.

  • * - Films I’ll buy eventually.
  • ** - Waiting for a good boxset of the series.
  • *** - Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair — both movies together.

Ok, that’s the list. Looks like I’ve seen 53 of the top 250 films. That’s over 20% of them, not as many as I expected but not too bad.

It’s interesting to compare which films you’ve seen, or haven’t, to their rating on IMDB and to other people who have done this meme. It looks like not many people, including myself, have seen the top rated film of all time; The Godfather.

Out of the bottom 100 films I’ve seen only 3. These three movies are all in the same series; Police Academy. These movies are just pure cheese, but good fun!

Warning: I am in the process of migrating to a new system. The blog should still function but there might be some funkyness in certain places.

This will be fixed soon.

I’ve seen about 25 of the top 250, or 10% - which isn’t too bad considering I’m not a big fan of films.

Of the ones you’ve not seen I’d reccomend Almost Famous, Being John Malkovich and if Lost in Translation is the film I think it is then that’s pretty good too. And congratulations on avoiding Die Hard this far.

Oops, looks like I missed that one! I watched Die Hard and Die Hard 3 the other week. Ace. Mindless killing and over the top action doesn’t get much better. I’ll get the boxset after Die Hard 4.0 is released (yup that’s real and it’s starring the ageing original Bruce himself)

After reviewing the list for a third time I managed to add another two. Another Bruce Willis film; Twelve Monkeys, and American Beauty which I actually own. Oops.

Lost In Translation is Bill Murray & Scarlett Johansson who meet in Japan. I did want to see it in the cinema, but didn’t and I don’t rent often so it’ll have to wait.

Hey…sexy new logo, buddy.

I may have to try that movie database thing later if I get enough free time.

Spent a happy few minutes whizzing down the list, and am amazed to find that I have seen 170 of them, including all but one of the top 20. I’m kinda spooked by that because I don’t consider myself a big movie fan at all.

I blame it on skymovies.  :)

Well seeing as I’m the co-admin of the worlds best movie site (hey what can I say I’m biased), I thought I just had to comment on this one.

I’m quite embarassed to admit I’ve only seen around 108 of the films listed in the Top 250. However I’ve been trying to watch a lot more of the “classics” in recent years so I reckon I could reach 200 within about 2 years.

Maybe our site should do our own top and worst 250 films of all time. I sense another idea for Insomniac Mania in the works…
