Looking Back On September
Thursday 30th September 2004
Well, it’s the end of the month, and I’ve jumped a whole year in age, passing the last milestone age before my 30s. Here’s some reflection on what’s happened, or not as the case maybe, around this site. Here’s what I put at the start of the month. On the website I am planning on adding a few more sections, eventually anyway! The main section…Firefox Extensions: Part II
Tuesday 28th September 2004
Here are a few more extensions I’ve been recommended to install or found while browsing some extension sites… ChromEdit This adds a link on the options menu to easily edit the user files associated with Firefox. You can change the look of the browser but I use it to tweak CSS rendering on the page, such as removing blinking items and…Firefox Extensions

Firefox absolutely smashed their concervative estimate of 1,000,000 (one million) downloads. Instead, they doubled this esimate reaching an astonishing two million downloads in just 10 days. Spread Firefox have done a great job advertising and getting the word out to the masses for Firefox 1.0 Preview Release. This browser is starting to take a…Bubble Fun

Friday 17th September 2004
Who says us standards-based web developer zealots don’t have a sense of humour! ATTAFTDODTD members were seen at several furniture stores, picketing against the use of tables. Originally targeting Web sites, the ATTAFTDODTD has officially launched an anti-table campaign against table furniture. Web Technology Standards Gurus Attack…Caricatured

Tuesday 14th September 2004
I’m getting old, I’ve hit 22 today, so what did I get for my birthday? Well, pull up a chair and I’ll tell ya… I got my DVD back from my broken DVD player. I got my nice shiny graphics card back, fixed! Mozilla released a version of Firefox, though it’s only a “preview release”. Now onto the actual prezzies…< I got Futurama box sets of…Cool Background
Monday 13th September 2004
I came across the following image while browsing a site with a lot of funny images. I think it looks really bizarre. I will try it out when someone gives me money to waste on a TFT monitor.Stop Design
Monday 13th September 2004
Douglas Bowman’s Stop Design website is back to it’s full colour, fixed width glory. I have to say I prefer this to his previous “bleach” redesign. But like Dave Shea’s Mezzoblue and my site, Doug has kept the older styles and you can view them. He has added a preference page where you can choose how you view the…Find A New Friend

Google is your friend. Please be nice to it, and it’ll be nice to you. Promise. [Bank Emails
Sunday 12th September 2004
I’ve been getting numerous emails from different banks asking me to confirm my details and log on to their system via a URL they provide. However, all the banks that have asked me to do this so far, I’ve never been with. I mean, I could input my details if I had any for that bank, but I don’t. Today I got one from the bank I’m actually with…Christmas Present Found
Thursday 9th September 2004
It’s not even my birthday yet and already I’ve managed to find my Christmas present… only 3 months or so to wait! My memory is terrible and I have so many different usernames and passwords over the web this little gadget will come in handy. Say goodbye to password hassles. Now you can log on to your computer and your favorite Web sites…Apple Users
Wednesday 8th September 2004
Are the people who use Apple computers such as the G5 of a lower mental capacity compared to PC users? Well I found a link to a support page documenting how to pick up and carry your iMac G5 and How to Turn the Computer On and Off… seriously, they’re real. Don’t know how to pick up and carry your iMac G5? It’s easy. Before moving your…Someones Birthday
Tuesday 7th September 2004
It looks like it’s someone’s birthday but whose? Google’s 6th birthday! Browsing through Google’s holiday logos I noticed that last year Google celebrated their birthday on the 7th of September (today), but in 2002 they celebrated it on September 27th. A possible typo, though there are no other references to their birthday on the…Firefox Version 1.0
Tuesday 7th September 2004
It seems that the first mainstream version of Mozilla Firefox will be arriving on computers around the world fairly soon. Previous releases have been dubbed ‘Technology Preview’ and pre version 1.0 versions are often beta releases which should not be relied upon for mission-critical tasks. Already…Happy Tree Friends
Tuesday 7th September 2004
Happy Tree Friends features hilarious characters in an extremely violent cartoon series. Oh the name might be all nice and pleasant, and you are lulled into a false sense of euphoria with the title song and smooth animation. But all that turns to havoc when the fluffy little characters start bleeding and dying. Handy — There’s no job…Hotmail Fight Back

Monday 6th September 2004
A few weeks ago I checked out what Google’s Gmail web email application looked like without any stylesheets enabled. I did this by disabling them using the Web Developer toolbar for Mozilla Firefox. I have just checked and it still does a similar thing, though before all the small boxes were full, they are empty by default, but are triggered by…University Upgrade
Monday 6th September 2004
It seems my university has decided to upgrade their computer system and install software people want to use. This includes the latest version of MSN Messenger and, to my amazement, the latest version of Mozilla Firefox – version 0.9.3. Even though I rarely use the university computers I think it’s a…Magical Trevor
