Newquay!
Wednesday 28th July 2004
I’m currently lying in a tent in a field about 200 meters from a long beach situated on the Atlantic ocean, Newquay in North Cornwall. That’s about it for now. Back to sunbathing and relaxing. And We’re Counting
Monday 19th July 2004
I have added some meaningless statistics about the visitors of this website. This is done by checking the User Agent “web browser” to the normal non-geeky folks! Every request you make to a webpage, this data is sent out. I only document and count the first hit on this site, per session. A session is reset when you close the web browser…See The Web Colour Blind
Friday 16th July 2004
Studies show that 5%-8% of males are born with some type of colour blindness, which is as high as 1 in 12. The most common types of colour blindness are protans, who find red hues difficult, and deutans, who find green hues difficult to distinguish between other colours. I have found a nice tool which shows you websites through the “eyes” of…London Trip A Success
Friday 16th July 2004
My trip to London was overall a great success. I left my house in the Midlands at 5.50am, which is a miracle for me! I traveled down the M40 which essentially continues to the center of the capital. I arrived at Hillingdon, a tube station on the outer edge of London, at 7am. I then caught a tube train into Baker Street where I connected onto…University Results

Mobile Update
Saturday 10th July 2004
Hello, this is an update not via a computer but from my new mobile phone. This phone has a built in version on the Opera browser using its small screen technology. So now I can keep updating easily where ever I am in any location virtually. This could come in handy in a few weeks when I’m off to Newquay, Cornwall…Guest Speaker On Accessibility
Thursday 8th July 2004
I can’t believe it. I’m in shock. I have been asked to speak on a course on web accessibility in London on Thursday 15th July! David Travis, a member of the Guild of Accessible Web Designers (GAWDs) contacted me regarding my web standards-based, highly accessible Vodafone page. He is part of Userfocus a…Woohoo, Special Feature
Thursday 8th July 2004
Yes. Finally. The special feature has been added to the site. I had been working on getting this for a few days now, on and off that is. This evening I decided to have a real go at it. I progressed slightly with the addition of display: list-item; but the major thanks goes to Thomas O’Connor for problem-solving and…Tweak Here, Tweak There
Wednesday 7th July 2004
I am still in the process of adding the special feature to the site, as early implementation testing provided harder to perfect than I first thought. Hopefully I should get this up and running soon. In other web development improvements for this site; I have written some php to gather information from [Amazon…GAWDS Newest Member

GAWDS.org is an association of organisations and accessible web designers and developers - and it is designed to both promote and protect standards - not technical standards - but accessible web design standards. What is the Guild of Accessible Web Designers?More IE News Stories
Sunday 4th July 2004
If you read my last article and are still not convinced to switch away from Microsofts Internet Explorer, then read these articles. Web Browser Flaw Prompts Warning states “Users are being told to avoid using Internet Explorer until Microsoft patches a serious security hole in it” and…I’m IE Vexed
Saturday 3rd July 2004
Why do people continue to use Microsoft Internet Explorer as their default number one choice browser. Is it because it because it’s the best browser available? Alas not by a long way. It seems that many internet surfers are ignorant to software other than the corporate, commericalized software that is literally thrown in their face. This,…Come Explore
Friday 2nd July 2004
I have added a new section to the site… Explore. This is where you can find all my favourite external links. These range from some very useful web development related articles and major sites, places to spend all your hard earned cash on without having to leave the house, and random links to funny sites or pages. I have also started on the…Stupidity - Ebay Auctions
Thursday 1st July 2004
Ebay was a great idea, a vision of genius. The idea of bringing an auction room to the worldwide mass was a stroke of genius. No other site, as far as I’m aware, has done it better, nor has such a global following of users. However, this genius can quickly turn into stupidity in the hands of a minority of the general public. If you [search…
